Act, 1967
The Government of Maharashtra had taken into consideration the suggestions and demands of the activists in the library movement and decided to introduce Maharashtra Public Libraries Bill in a legislature. The Maharashtra Public Libraries Act was passed in 1967 at the Nagpur Session of the Maharashtra Legislature. However, it was brought into force on 1st May 1968, the Maharashtra Day. The Act provides for uniform Public Library System in the State and uniform scale of grant-in-aid. For more information download
